Tropico 5 deemed too controversial for Thailand
The Culture Ministry of Thailand has banned all sales of Tropico 5 in the country, saying the game may affect the "peace and order."
The Associated Press is reporting that the current government, a junta that had overthrown the civilian government back in May via a military coup, has banned all sales of the strategy simulator in the Thailand.
Nonglak Sahavattanapong, marketing manager of New Era Thailand, a video game distributor in the country, said that the film and video censorship office provided no explanation other than that "they feared some parts of the game's content might affect the peace and order in the country."
Sahavattanapong said that previous instalments faced no such censoring.
The Tropico series of games is city-building simulator similar to SimCity, except it stars a despotic leader and usually gives players the choice of either working for the benefit of the people or for the benefit of ruling monarchy.
