Tron game in the works, says Scarface composer

A new Tron game is coming, according to someone who apparently hasn't been told that video games are top secret business.

Scarface composer Giorgio Moroder has said he'll soon be working on the soundtrack for a new Tron game.

“I'm going to meet Skrillex next week when I'm back. I'm doing the music for a game for Disney's Tron," he told Clash Magazine.

"We have about five themes, electronic stuff and let's see if he's interested in remixing or re-working one of the songs.”

If you scour your brain thoroughly you may remember that we know absolutely nothing whatsoever about a new Tron game. Disney largely got out of the traditional games business a few years back, leaving Disney Infinity as its sole contribution to the console space.

Disney has been licensing Star Wars out to other publishers since the LucasArts buy out, so maybe it's now open to handing over other properties, too. The last Tron game, Tron: Evolution, was produced in-house by Propaganda Games to tie in with Tron: Legacy, and was pretty rubbish. It'd be great to see a developer tackle the license on its own initiative, rather than as a tie-in.

This sort of leak isn't unprecedented; voice actors and composers regularly drop mentions of projects and details video game publishers don't want anyone to know about it.

Veterans of other entertainment industries are often a bit puzzled by the tight security and huge secrecy surrounding video games, but films and albums don't look absolutely wretched before they hit alpha state six months before launch, and rarely tank due to Internet gossip.

Moroder has quite the history with games, though; he worked on GTA 3, Liberty City Stores and Vice City Stories, alongside many illustrious film credits.
