Treyarch: Black Ops is "a true PC title", "never wavered" on dedicated servers
Treyarch has said Call Of Duty: Black Ops will be a "true PC title", in the sense the game has a team devoted entirely to the PC version of the game.
Furthermore, it has "never wavered" over whether to include dedicated server support for the game or not.
Speaking with PC Gamer, Treyarch head of PC development Cesar Stastny told the magazine the option of not including dedicated server support has never even come up for discussion at the studio.
"We never went away from dedicated servers," said Stastny. "We had dedicated servers in our last title, we had planned on dedicated servers for our subsequent title all along, so we haven't actually wavered on that at all.
"We are a PC developer. I've been running a dedicated PC team since the beginning of this project. We had one last project. We are making a true PC title here and I think it's a really important platform for our studio, and I'm also really thrilled that we can support the PC community as much as we can."
Stastny also promised that mod support was still part of the plan, but he didn't have a solid release date for mod tools just yet.
Black Ops is out on November 9 for PC, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360.
