Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark announced at New York Toy Fair

Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark is indeed a thing, and will merge the canon established in the games so far with that of the Michael Bay movie series.

The new Transformers title was leaked by an Amazon listing ahead of its reveal during Hasbro's presentation at the New York Toy Fair this weekend.

Rise Of The Dark Spark is due in 2014 on 3DS, PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Examiner reports the core console version is in the works at Edge of Reality, the team behind Loadout, rather than high Moon Studios, which developed previous Activision Transformers games. High Moon is believed to have suffered mass lay-offs after a string of mid- to low-rated titles.

The console version will include a co-op story campaign for one to four players as well as a four-player Horde-like mode called Escalation. Experience gained in either mode will carry over to the other. Players will be able to choose to play as the Autobots or Decepticons, and the story will unite the games with the Michael Bay movie.

Meanwhile, the 3DS version will be a strategy RPG from WayForward Technologies, the developer of BloodRayne: Betrayal, DuckTales: Remastered,Shantae, Mighty Switch Force and many other 2D gems.
