Toukiden trademark hints at sequel, re-release
Toukiden: The Age of Demons looks set to spawn a sequel, spin-off or re-release.
Gematsu reports Tecmo Koei trademarked Toukiden Kyoku - Toukiden Extreme - in December, with the mark going public this week.
Assuming Tecmo Koei isn't making random defensive trademarks (which is not its usual style), the filing suggests Toukiden has been successful enough to warrant some kind of follow-up.
That doesn't necessary mean a sequel; given the title, I'm betting on some sort of expanded re-release, with all DLC and some additional extras, maybe a bit of a lick and polish.
It's become something of a given that major Japanese portable titles will be re-released in a fancier form. See: Bravely Default: For the Sequel and Soul Sacrifice Delta.
Toukiden: The Age of Demons is out now on Vita. It represents something of a change for Omega Force, which seems pretty confident of a strong western reception.
