Total War: Three Kingdoms mod support is here, but no nude mods will be allowed
Mod tools have officially been released for Creative Assembly's Total War: Three Kingdoms, but the developer won't be allowing any ol' mod on official channels.
Total War: Three Kingdoms, like all games in the strategy series, now supports mods. Developer Creative Assembly detailed some of the tweaks made this time around to make the suite more interesting to creators.
In a blog post, the developer said anyone familiar with mod tools in previous Total War games should feel right at home with Three Kingdom's. That said, the developer made a few improvements to better fit the more data-driven Three Kingdoms.
Though database tables, battle maps, starting positions, character portraits and other components are moddable, some aspects such as campaign battle maps and campaign map hexes are not. Similarly, game code is off-limits, and you won't be able create your own VFX or audio files, either.
The release of the Assembly Kit for Three Kingdoms also comes with Steam Workshop support, which is where most players will be browsing and installing mods for the game. Unsurprisingly, the developer emphasised that it'll curate the available mods to ensure none are in breach of modding terms in the game's EULA.
"Please refrain from creating mods that are designed to provoke, intimidate, or antagonise other groups, reference other IP, or create content of a sexual nature," Creative Assembly wrote.
It's likely the more perverted modes will exist, just not on the Steam Workshop. If you're more interested in sensible mods, there are already a few fan favourites on the game's Workshop page. Click the link for more.
