Runic: Torchlight MMO will be "as close to a single-player as we can get"
Travis Baldree, president of Runic Games, has said the Torchlight MMO will be "as close to a single-player as we can get."
Speaking in the latest issue of PC Gamer, Baldree said the MMO will maintain the same fast action and focus as the firm's popular RPG.
"Our vision is to have an MMO that plays as close to single-player as we can get it," he told the magazine.
"It will have the same focus on relatively fast action: carving your way through hordes of monsters with a large number of hugely devastating skills.
"The game has to be solo-able, but players will have to have skills that make them useful in a party and make them work together."
Baldree also admitted that while he would never personally purchase a micro-transaction item, since Torchlight will be free-to-play, it will support the system.
"I will never, ever buy a micro-transaction item," he said. "I'm that kind of player. And the game has to be enjoyable for me, too. We don't want our monetization stuff to offer ways to skip the game because the game is boring."
A release date for the MMO has yet to be announced, but if you've yet to play the original Torchlight, Steam has it on sale today for $5.
Thanks, Shack.
