Top Gun hitting PSN, Ray-Bans and bomber jacket not included
Top Gun has been announced by doublesix, exclusively for PSN.
Slated for summer, it's to be published by Paramount Digital Entertainment - the company that owns the film studio that brought you a certain movie of the same name filled with sweaty volleyball players, Everly Brothers karaoke, and a theme song by Kenny Loggins.
The film's screenwriter, Jack Epps, Jr., even helped with the game's creation of the flight school and the combat with Soviets flyboys over the Indian Ocean.
Here's the game's description, per the US PS Blog:
Top Gun is a free-flying air combat shooter where, as Maverick, players will blast enemies out of the sky in dogfight battles, obliterate ground- and air-based targets and show off their extreme flying prowess. Campaign mode features three parts: Prologue, where you will be introduced to your Soviet enemy, Flight School, where you will compete against Iceman, Merlin, etc. for Top Gun honors, and active combat over the Indian Ocean.
There will also be a single-player Horde Mode and five online multiplayer modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Top Gun (choose your wingman and compete against enemy pairs), Bombing Run (defend and attack mobile bases) and Capture the Flag.
So come summer, hopefully you will feel the need... for speed - highfive!
Sorry. Had to say it. We hate ourselves now.
