Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris confirmed at E3 2014 - trailer

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris has been confirmed as the sequel to series off-shoot Guardian of Light. It's coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The game was first confirmed after Crystal Dynamics unveiled the first trailer for its reboot sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider. Watch it through the link.

Publisher Square Enix wrote in its synopsis, "In her new adventure, Lara Croft travels to Egypt and must join forces with rival archaeologist Carter Bell and imprisoned gods Horus and Isis, to defeat the evil god Set.

"Featuring a four-player co-op story, players must work together to explore the temple, defeat hordes of enemies from the Egyptian underworld, solve devious puzzles, and avoid deadly traps. All the while, players will compete for treasure, powerful artifacts, and ultimate bragging rights.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Two interesting new domain names popped up over the weekend - RiseOfTheTombRaider.com and LaraCroftAndTheTempleOfOsiris.com.

Superannuation turned up both registrations, which the Internet sleuth traces to Square Enix's corporate registrar.

Neither name is clearly linked to an existing Tomb Raider effort, such as the soft-launched mobile game known variously as Lara Croft: Reflections and Tomb Raider: Reflections.

As such, it's pretty hard not to assume we're looking at something to do with Crystal Dynamics' next Tomb Raider game, especially as we've long known a sequel is in the works.

The fact that there are two titles may suggest one website is intended as a marketing or promotional site, or it may mean there's a spin-off game in the works as well - something like Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

We'll be looking forward to an E3 2014 reveal to see what the company has done with the extra grunt of the PS4 and Xbox One - especially given how well-received the next-gen ports of the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot were.
