Tomb Raider film reboot to be an origin story, says producer
The producer on the upcoming Tomb Raider movie has said the film will focus on being an origin story, similar to the next Lara Croft game.
Graham King told ComingSoon.com that, while the first two movies starring Angelina Jolie "weren't disasters," the new film would take its lines from flicks like Casino Royale and Batman Begins.
"I find it interesting that the story that we're telling is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece," said King.
"It does have a lot of really great characters, but it's a lot of action and a lot of fun, and for me, it's something very different. I've not really done a movie like that before, but I really gravitated to rebooting this franchise and we're going to give it a shot."
The last movie based on Lady Croft was The Cradle of Life eight years ago.
The new movie is due in 2013, a year after Crystal Dynamics releases its reboot of the IP, in which we see a young Croft stranded on an island after being shipwrecked.
