Todd Hollenshead has left id Software after 17 years

One-time president Todd Hollenshead has left id Software, Bethesda has confirmed.

The publisher described an amicable split to IGN.

"After many years with the studio, Todd Hollenshead decided to leave id Software to pursue other personal interests," marketing and PR SVP Pete Hines said.

"While Todd was not part of the development teams, he was an integral part of id Software’s success as the business head of the studio and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors."

Hollenshead was CEO of id when it was acquired by Bethesda parent company Zenimax Online, and thereafter became president. His role was largely on the business side, as he had a background in accounting before signing on with the Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein developer. He remained with Id for 17 years.

His visibility has dropped since the release of Rage as the developer has not produced a new title, focusing on re-releases instead. His traditional role as MC of Quakecon has endeared him to the developer's many fans, though.

Id is currently believed to be working on DOOM 4, although the project is heavily under wraps.
