Toby Fox Gives an Update on Deltarune, in Honor of Undertale's Anniversary
Oh, how the years fly by.

It's somehow been four years since Undertale first launched. Deltarune, the anagrammatic pseudo-sequel to the first, is still in development, but creator Toby Fox took the occasion to share a few details and give fans an idea of when the full launch of Deltarune might be coming.
Fox started their posts reminiscing about how Undertale's release feels like "just yesterday" and sharing a GIF of a tiny pup driving what appears to be a children's toy car. Absolutely adorable.
They go on to say there are some small things to share about Deltarune, but first, a progress update. "The design of the actual game and the specifics of what happen are going really well," Fox writes. "I have a lot of confidence in the game that is currently written in my notes. At least, I think people that enjoy the things that I make, will enjoy it. That's all I'm ever aiming for.
"There are other aspects that are facing some hurdles, but they'll definitely get overcome," continues Fox in a second tweet. "Trust me when I say that, although I want to take my time making an excellent game, I also want to get the game into peoples' hands as quickly as possible. Seriously."
With the update concluded, Fox shared some music and art, presumably set to appear in Deltarune. (Though to be honest, anything is possible.) The first is dubbed "Welcome to the CITY," and features our adorable pup driving the streets of a city. Walking on the sidewalk nearby is the presumptive protagonist of Deltarune, who we were introduced to in the first playable portion of the game, released last October.
Next comes "Lost Girl (Noelle)," which Fox says was Noelle's Theme but ends up getting used repeatedly all over the game, "even when she's not around." Then Fox shared a second version of the song, saying that's not the only version. "Lots and lots of things happen," Fox writes. "I just hope you can be friends with everyone someday."
Cool, so I'm ready to feel intense feelings again.
Deltarune is the follow-up to Undertale, which we gave a full 5 out of 5 the first time around. Despite using a lot of the same trappings as Undertale, Deltarune isn't a full-on sequel in the traditional sense-Fox has confirmed that Deltarune and Undertale don't take place in the same world-but it does look like it's following up on a lot of themes, and the first chapter uses some pretty familiar faces. You can play the first portion of Deltarune right now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
