Titanfall tops E3 2013 Game Critics Awards nominations

Respawn Entertainment's debut title Titanfall has emerged as a clear favourite in nominations for the E3 2013 Game Critic Awards.

By scoring six nominations, Titanfall set a new record for the Game Critic Awards; Pat was pretty please by it, in case you were wondering.

Every game and device on the show floor was eligible for a nomination. Titanfall was closely followed by Bungie's Destiny and Ubisoft Montreal's Watch Dogs, which each scored five nods. All three are in the running for the coveted Best of Show category, along with the Oculus Rift HD and PlayStation 4.

Although it didn't get a Best of Show nod, the Xbox One did score a nomination in the Best Hardware category, and Microsoft took out top spot in terms of games; 37 Xbox 360 titles were nominated for awards. The Xbox One and PC followed with 34 titles each, then PlayStation 4 with 33 and PlayStation 3 with 32. The Wii U trailed with 13.

Although a large number of games managed two nominations, only two managed three - Battlefield 4 and The Elder Scrolls Online.

EA led the pack with 16 nominations, with Sony in second place with ten. Ubisoft took eight and Activision, seven.

A full list of nominees is available below.

Last year, The Last of Us took home a slew of awards, and BioShock Infinite was the big winner in 2011. results don't always tie in with post-launch critical acclaim, though; in 2010 Rage scored a number of gongs.
