UPDATE: Titanfall's Australian servers come online Friday
Titanfall players in Australia and Oceania can enjoy local servers from the end of this week, Respawn Entertainment has announced.
UPDATE: We've just received a statement from an EA Australian Spokesperson, who told us, "EA, Respawn and Microsoft are excited to share the news that Titanfall players based in Australia and New Zealand will be able to connect to Australian-based servers on all platforms. We are confident this will give our Australian and New Zealand fans a great experience. “
ORIGINAL STORY: Respawn boss Vince Zampella broke the news on Twitter.
"Aussie servers coming online, starting Friday morning and building capacity each day," he said.
"Combined EA/Microsoft/Respawn effort to make it happen."
Dedicated local servers are important for antipodean gamers because the distance to data centres in the US, Europe and Asia often results in acceptable ping levels, even with excellent netcode.
For a game like Titanfall, which is not only multiplayer only but one of the first games to use Microsoft's Azure cloud to handle some processing, latency can be a disaster.
Respawn teased incoming Aussie Titanfall servers earlier in the week, and seems to have moved quite quickly to get the tech up and running.
