Titanfall 2 post-launch maps and game modes will be free
Titanfall 2 developer Respawn has confirmed that it will not charge for maps or game modes that release post-launch.
The game's lead programmer Jon Shiring told PCGamer at E3 that the plan is to release future content for free. "One of our lessons is we’re not gonna sell maps anymore," he told the site.
"All the modes and maps coming to Titanfall 2 after release will all be free."
The original game did have a season pass, and famously abandoned it after all add-ons were released, effectively making all DLC free to all players. The move will no doubt be received positively by fans.
Though a laudable decision, Respawn has yet to outline how it intends to monetise the game during the months following release. It's not hard to imagine decals, skins and camos to being sold for microtransactions, however.
Titanfall 2 is out October 28 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. If you missed it, make sure to watch the bombastic multiplayer trailer from yesterday.
