THQ's Bilson hopes PSP2 will "invigorate" Sony's handheld offering

Danny "rent-a-quote" Bilson can't help himself. Sujet du jour: PSP2.

Speaking to IndustryGamers, the THQ motormouth said he's hoping PSP2 will boost the PSP offering in general.

"I hope that they invigorate their handheld platform because it will just give us another place to deliver our games," Bilson said of Sony and PSP2.

"They do have a lot of great engineers and great designers. When they do announce it, I hope that it’s something that works for everybody, but I really can’t comment on it because they haven’t."

PSP2 appears to be getting closer to an announcement, with confirmation recently that PSP dev kits are now being discontinued.

You can talk about 3DS though, right Danny?

"I think it’s fantastic hardware. Like I said, we’ve greenlit three, maybe four games; that’s a lot. We are supporting it; we’re absolutely supporting it. I think it’s pretty exciting hardware and has a fresh look to it, obviously. You’ve seen it. The 3DS is really kind of amazing. We are supporting it, for sure. We’re not doing a 'sit back and wait' thing. We’re actually betting with Nintendo that it’s going to be successful by developing three or four titles for it," he said.

Bilson's been on quite a news-roll recently, heading up yesterday's announcement that THQ is to launch a Montreal studio fronted by Assassin's Creed castaway Patrice Désilets.

Go Danny. Go PSP2. Go 3DS. Go everyone. Thanks, Crysis.
