THQ to co-develop new IPs with Random House Publishing Group

THQ's announced it's entered into a partnership with The Random House Publishing Group to co-develop new and original IPs "across multiple mediums."

According to the release THQ has sent out, the collaboration will "first appear as a collection of games and books" as they develop into a "rich IP universe that will allow for ongoing shelf life through other media."

The new relationship will also continue upon both parties' existing efforts to bring THQ IPs to books, such as Homefront, while THQ plans to ramp up more involvement in Random House's creation of "world bibles" - THQ's wording - for potential THQ properties via RHPG's IP and development group, Random House Worlds.

"This collaboration is a shining example of how we can generate interesting and exciting publishing opportunities as our various media continue to converge," said core games creative and business development director, Lenny Brown.

"Working with the incredible team at Random House, we expect to build a huge IP universe from the ground up, exploring the characters, settings, and stories of these worlds in ways that let each medium do what it does best, and giving fans a truly unequaled experience. We hope to make this relationship the gold standard in transmedia."
