THQ reveals experimental pricing plan for MX vs ATV: Alive and another "major franchise"

THQ detailed its experimental pricing plan for MX vs ATV today during its Games Day Event in new York, stating that it plans to bring the pricing model to "another major franchise".

MX vs ATV: Alive will be released in the US for $39.99 (£25), and will have both free and paid DLC released for it.

According to the firm's core games head Danny Bilson, the new price scheme would be added to another major franchise, but failed to elaborate on which franchise it would be, only that it is slated for a 2012 release.

Bilson believes the new pricing format will help titles gain a larger install base while potentially making more money for the firm through the release of DLC.

The new base price for the MX vs ATV franchise, which has shipped 10 million units lifetime, was hinted at by Brian Farrell back in November when the CEO said the average price point of $59.99 was “keeping people out” of gaming.
