THQ Nordic acquires the rights to Timesplitters, Second Sight

THQ Nordic has announced today that it now owns the rights to two classic series: Timesplitters, and Second Sight.

THQ Nordic bought the rights to both series for an undisclosed sum, though obviously Timesplitters is the highlight. Timesplitters, and Second Sight were both created by UK studio Free Radical.

When Free Radical was bought by Crytek and renamed to Crytek UK, the German development house picked up the rights to both IPs. At one point, Crytek was evaluating whether a revival of some sort would make sense for Timesplitters, seeing as it's something fans keep asking for.

Free Radical is now Deep Silver Dambuster, which means it's part of THQ Nordic's big group of studios. Though THQ Nordic didn't give any hints about future projects, it at least means fans have a better chance of seeing re-releases or new games.

Second Sight is the lesser known of the two, but it too had a cult following when it released. Second Sight is a stealth-based action adventure, very different from Timesplitters.

Deep Silver Dambuster has been quiet since finishing the rest of Homefront: The Revolution's DLC. Although the game didn't perform well financially (or with critics), the company's new owner THQ Nordic could have bigger plans for Timesplitters that only required the license to set in motion.

We'll just to have to wait to see what these are.
