This Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus video explains the Nazi threat you'll be fighting back against

In Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, the Nazis won World War 2, and their stranglehold on the US is due for a loosening.

This video features the game's executive producer, Jerk Gustafsson, and its director, Jens Matthies, talking through the Nazi occupation that you'll be dismantling over the course of the game.

Aside from a small 'open front' in Africa, the whole world is under Nazi control in this alternate version of 1961. It's been 14 years since America was conquered by Nazi forces, and series hero BJ Blazkowicz has to fight back. The game is explicitly about liberating the US, apparently, but in doing so you'll be "creating a platform to liberate the rest of the world" (which is a smart way of saying "we're already planning Wolfenstein 3", I think).

The pair talks over the effect of German occupation, and how it has changed culture in America. It looks like the English language is being irradiated, for instance, and New Orleans has been transformed into a ghetto.

Wolfenstein 2 looks like it'll be a lot of fun to play, but it's this world-building stuff that gets us really excited.

The game will release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 27.
