This Attack on Titan Tribute Is Monstrously Fun

That anime about giant, people-eating monsters that is really about societal anxiety now has new fan game.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

If naked, flesh-eating giants with alarming dentures and questionable physical condition ever start invading, I know where I'd be:

Dead.

I'm absolutely rubbish at Feng's tribute to Attack on Titan, or Shingeki No Kyojin as it is known in the East, but I can tell you that it's a weird amount of fun. Though the world is roughly modeled, the protagonist a squat-looking version of itself, the giant themselves are curiously menacing. Then again, anything with fists three times your size is, by default, terrifying.

In case you're staring blankly at the screen right now, clueless as to what I'm talking about, Attack on Titan revolves around the last bastion of humanity. For reasons yet to be fully explained, our species has been beaten back into a small settlement protected by three concentric Walls. The culprits? Humanoid giants that instinctively hunt, kill and eat people for the simple pleasure of the act. It's all a bit unpleasant, I can assure you.

Moving on, the game itself doesn't deal with the mechanics behind the story. Instead, it chooses to focus on what may well be the most exhilirating part of the whole franchise - the Three Dimensional Maneuvering Equipment used by the Corps. The idea here is to shoot piston-shot grapple-hooks at walls and then reel yourself through the air. Along the way, you're going to want to slice at Titans as they wander past. Too scared to go at it alone? This fan game has a multiplayer option for you.

Judging from the comments, it looks as though Feng may well be intending to continue updating the game. Let's hope a cease & desist order doesn't show up anytime soon.
