Theme Park reinvented as free-to-play iOS game

Bullfrog's classic amusement park management sim has been resurrected as a freemium title by EA Mobile.

The game was shown behind closed doors at gamescom, and Digital Spy reports it will release for free on iDevice by the end of the year.

Players will use in-game currency tu build and expand their theme parks, and can purchase additional bonuses through micro-transactions.

As with many freemium titles, construction and earnings will play out in real time, so you'll need to check back often to collect and take actions.

EA is apparently supporting the new game with cloud saves hosted on its Origin service, as well as tie-in in-game attractions based on EA properties - Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Dead Space are mentioned.

We've contacted EA Australia for more information.

Theme Park was first released in 1994 and saw several re-imaginings and ports; one version is currently available from the PlayStation Network. It was part of a line of critically acclaimed and best-selling management sims from Peter Molyneux's Bullfrog Productions, which included Dungeon Keeper and Theme Hospital.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
