The Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter just launched and has already met its funding goal
Playtonic Games launched the Kickstarter campaign for Yooka-Laylee at 5pm UK, and in just over 30 minutes it already hit its $270,000 funding goal.
You can watch the funding counter continue to roll over through the link.
Yooka-Laylee is a 3D platformer where the characters use special moves such as Yooka’s tongue grapple and Laylee’s tactical sonar blast to explore the word and discover hidden collectibles across the expandable world. Each world also hides "at least one secret arcade game encasing" featuring classic "gaming goodness," to unlock a Pagie.
Pagies will be collected by Yooka and Laylee and are the main currency in the game which can be used to unlock and expand new worlds.
Since the game has been funded already, Yooka-Laylee will be released for Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U.
Exact release timing and the scope of each version "will be determined by stretch goals," which you can look over in the image below.
"We’d love to be able to guarantee a simultaneous, day-one release on all platforms in order to satisfy every Yooka-Laylee backer," said Playtonic on the Kickstarter page. "In order to do this we’ll need to significantly expand our resources and budget, and if we can reach the funding number required we’d be excited to do so.
"Any extra money will of course go towards improving the game."
The second stretch goal has been met as well.
