The Witcher 3: The Bloody Baron quest guide
Here's how to complete The Bloody Baron quest in The Witcher 3.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has us on the trail of Ciri, and The Bloody Baron is the man with the information we need. This main quest is quite short, depending on what you did previously.
If your time completing The Nilfgaardian Connection didn't go as pleasantly as planned, you'll have a little more work to do during this quest. To give you some help, here's how to complete The Bloody Baron quest in The Witcher 3.
The Witcher 3: The Bloody Baron quest guide
To kick off The Bloody Baron quest in The Witcher 3, proceed to Crow's Perch. Your entry route is affected by your actions at the Inn at the Crossroads during The Nilfgaardian Connection.
- If you resolved matters peacefully and had a drink with the Baron's men, you can just trot in, taking advantage of the Gwent-playing merchant along the way. Feel free to leave your escort and visit the second merchant and blacksmith as you proceed.
- If you started a fight or otherwise upset the soldiers, you won't be able to use the main gate. Circle the island and look for a cave; enter and swim through the tunnels, climbing out to make your way through some caves, and eventually reaching a ladder which delivers you directly to the Baron.
Chat with this local lord and you'll get the chance to play as Ciri. This actually marks the end of The Bloody Baron and the beginning of Ciri's Footsteps: The King of the Wolves, but let's keep going anyway.
Ciri can't use signs (she should be able to, grumble grumble) or access the inventory but she is terrific with her sword. Instead of dodge and roll, she has a rapid teleport of sorts. You can be hit at the far end of this so come out swinging when you use it.
Initially you'll have to battle a few wolves, then speak with a child. The child will then lead you into a wolf battle, after which you can examine a body. Check everything and you'll conclude that a werewolf is on the loose. Move onwards with the child to the next clearing where you can kill several more wolves, loot them, and then go flower picking to gather everything you need (Fool's Parsley is a tall plant with large blooms at the top of long stems).
Ciri will brew and apply an oil automatically, so follow the child into the cave to battle the Wolf King. He’s not difficult; Ciri hits really hard and is super speedy, so just get behind him, hit a few times, and repeat for an easy win.
After a few more cutscenes, you can strike a deal with the Baron. When you regain control, grab the nearby document (there’s nothing else to loot) and kick off the Family Matters mission and Ciri's Room secondary mission.
Your next quest that we'll guide you through is Family Matters.
