The Witcher 3: Free Spirit walkthrough
A treasure hunt of sorts.
Free Spirit is another secondary quest in The Witcher 3 that players will have to go off the main path to find. Once you pick it up, Geralt will find himself helping a man named Ivar who is looking for love...in the form of a priestess that he is pretty much forbidden from marrying.
As a result, Ivar wants Geralt to help him get his hands on some books whose contents may have some loopholes he can take advantage of. He's taking his love very seriously, so we better help him out. To point you in the right direction of the quest, and the books, here's our guide on how to complete the Free Spirit quest in The Witcher 3.
The Witcher 3: Free Spirit walkthrough
The Free Spirit quest is easily missed in The Witcher 3. To trigger it, you need to wander around Snidhall island, north of the Acnient Crypt signpost on Ard Skellig, until you see a warrior attacking a helpless man.
If you save the defenceless chap, the quest properly begins. His name is Ivar, and he's wanting to marry a priestess but religion won't allow it. To help his case, he's after a collection of books.
These books can be found by chance or purchased in a wide variety of locations (check your quest item inventory as you may have some already) but you can find guaranteed copies at the following spots:
- Change Your Life! A Handbook - loan shark merchant in Novigrad, northwest of the Southern Gate
- The Cult of Freya - purchase from reluctant alchemist merchant masquerading as priest in Elector's Square, north Novigrad
- The Curious Case of Virtuous Vegga - merchant in Novigrad near the notice board at St Gregory's Bridge
- Religion and Life - purchase from merchant in Crow's Perch
- Tristianna and Isador - purchase from merchant in Lindenvale
When you have all five, return to Ivar and give him the books to turn the quest in. You'll be rewarded with some XP and Crowns for the trouble.
