The VG247 Games Writing Award - write, win, get published, get paid
Looking for your break? Roll right up.
We're proud today to launch the VG247 Games Writing Award. The winner's work will be published on VG247 in the headline slot.
Anyone can enter. We don't care about your colour, gender or sexual orientation. VG247 is committed to the promotion of diversity in games writing, and we specifically encourage entries from women, people of colour and members of the LGBT community.
Here's how to get involved. READ ALL THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY:
- Entry is free and open to all.
- Only one entry is allowed per person.
- We want you to submit 500-600 words on any subject related to games. The work must be written in English. Write whatever you like. VG247 is an active supporter of both avant-garde games writing and accomplished traditional copy. If you want to write the world's greatest Fallout 4 review, good for you. If you're more concerned with the back-end of your eyeballs after 300 hours of Tetris, we're all ears. No subject or style is off-limits. The winner will delight us, thrill us, appall us. Go right ahead and blow our minds.
- You must include a headline and strapline as well as the body text. We're looking for the full article. Remember the head and strap are as much a part of the text as the feature itself. A great headline is key. Format your article as in the image below.
- Email your entry to matt.martin@vg247.com with "VG247 writing competition" in the subject line.
- Please include your contact details in the email.
- Paste your entry as text at the bottom of your email. DON'T ATTACH IT. ATTACHED ENTRIES WILL BE DELETED UNREAD.
- Entries must reach us before midnight UK time on Friday, November 20.
- FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY WILL SEE YOUR SUBMISSION DELETED UNREAD.
The prize:
- The winner (there will be only one) will see their entry published on VG247 in the headline slot - byline and all.
- We'll pay £100 for the article.
That's it. Get writing. Good luck.
