The Switch is Nintendo's fastest-selling console in the US, Zelda: Breath of the Wild fastest-selling launch game
Nintendo Switch's early sales surpassed all other consoles in the company's history, at least as far as the US is concerned.
According to the NPD Group, Nintendo came out on top during March. The Nintendo Switch outsold both PS4, and Xbox One.
The console sold 906,000 units in the US during March, breaking the streak PS4 had since October. This was in large part due to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, itself becoming Nintendo's fastest-selling launch title, and fastest-selling game in the series.
Beyond that, PS4 sold more than Xbox One during the same month.
Breath of the Wild shifted 1.3 million units, 925,000 of which were on the Switch, and 460,000 on the Wii U. This is an impressive attach rate, over 100% in fact. That said, it's likely this way because a portion of players bought the game before they could get a Switch.
The Switch was hard to find at retail during the first two weeks, and remains that way today, so it's understandable why more people own the Switch version than the console they'll use to play it on.
The full NPD report will be published soon, including a list of the best-selling games. It'll be interesting to see how high Breath of the Wild will chart on that list.
