The Overwatch Open Division starts July 4, offering competitive play for 'Master' ranked players

Blizzard has announced the Overwatch Open Division, available to anyone who ranked 'Master' or better in the fourth competitive season.

The Overwatch Open Division is an open tournament is the game's best players - a serious competitive scene for those who aren't quite ready for professional esports, or who want to get involved at a higher level but need more training and competition. Players will compete within their own regions, and will naturally be encouraged to form squads.

If you're on the cusp of a Master ranking in Overwatch, you have until June 21 - when the season ends - to get there. The Open Division competition will run from July 3 through to August 26, and the best eight teams will compete from August 21 to 27. All participants will receive a reward of some kind.

The regions included in the first season are:

  • Australia and New Zealand
  • Western Europe
  • Eastern Europe
  • North America
  • Latin American Spanish Speaking Countries
  • Brazil
  • Southeast Asia
