The Nintendo Switch could have supply issues this holiday, says Fils-Aime
The Nintendo Switch has been selling very well so far, and Nintendo is trying to keep up with the impressive demand.
That said, the Switch's holiday supply situation is still unclear. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said that the company is focused on having enough stock during the holidays.
"Certainly the demand is there, and our supply chain is there," Fils-Aime said during Variety’s Entertainment and Technology Summit, referring to the goal of reaching 10 million units by the year's end (via Variety).
"Are we going to have enough for the holiday? That’s what we are focused on," he added, which makes it sound like it could be a challenge.
The Nintendo Switch was released in March, but it continues to be supply-constrained. Finding one in stock at major retailers is still not a guarantee, even if the situation has improved compared to the first few weeks after launch.
During the talk, Fils-Aime also reiterated that Nintendo is not quite ready to get into the VR space, whereas it's less hesitant about AR, citing Pokemon Go as an example of what the tech can do.
