The next game from Killer Instinct devs is God of War meets Dragon's Dogma
Extinction's reveal trailer and general pitch show a lot of promise.
Iron Galaxy, developer of Killer Instinct, and Divekick has unveiled its new project, Extinction. The mostly fighting game studio is making an action/spectacle fighter that borrows from Attack on Titan's themes.
Extinction puts you in command of one of the Sentinels, warriors sworn to protect humanity from the Ravenii, massive, Titan-like ogres that threaten all life. The trailer above doesn't show gameplay, but it shows enough that should get fans of God of War, and Dragon's Dogma. The press release confirmed that we'll be climbing these towering beats to disarm and dismember them.
Extinction also features movement mechanics such as wall-runs, and other tools that add verticality to the combat. In addition, the game's environments are "fully destructible," just to round up the list of promising features.
We only have these first screenshots to go on, but they look great. Iron Galaxy promised to stuff the game full of content, from the "abundant" story campaign to many side missions and a horde-style mode and RPG mechanics.
Extinction is out in Q1 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
