The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild getting a day one season pass
The first ever downloadable content for a mainline Legend of Zelda game is in development for Breath of the Wild.
Nintendo has announced that it's begun working on the first DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, to be released later this year. This is the first add-on of its kind for a mainline Zelda game.
What's more, the publisher announced an expansion pass, priced $20/£18/€20. The pass will be available at launch and it gets you access to two add-ons. Anytime you buy the pass, you'll receive three treasure chests. The chests will appear in the game's Great Plateau area.
One of these chests will contain a shirt with a Nintendo Switch logo for Link - exclusive to owners of the pass. As for the rest, expect them to contain "useful items," according to Nintendo.
Neither of the DLCs were named, but Nintendo confirmed the first will launch this summer. The add-on will bring a new hard mode, a Cave of Trials challenge, and a new feature for the in-game map that hasn't been detailed.
The second is primed for a holiday 2017 launch. It's said to bring a new dungeon and a new "original story."
Finally, Nintendo confirmed that the add-ons will not be available for purchase separately, but the expansion pass itself will be available on both the Switch and Wii U.
