The Last of Us runs better on PS4 Pro after the latest patch, but there's a trade off
The Last of Us has been patched for PS4 Pro, but it's still not the HD dream some were hoping for.
The Last of Us: Remastered has been updated to patch 1.08 after copping criticism for the wobbly frame rate in its PS4 Pro mode.
But as Digital Foundry discovers, improved frame rates come with a trade-off. At 1080p, aliasing becomes pretty obvious, and the new high quality shadows have some obvious problems.
It's still definitely the fanciest way to experience The Last of Us, and as the video notes, Naughty Dog knows its own game better than anyone. Still, it would be nice to have the option to switch off the shadows and opt for less jaggies, wouldn't it? Now that Rise of the Tomb Raider has introduced the idea of graphics settings to console gamers its easier to understand why PC players bang on about them all the time.
Naughty Dog is staffed by wizards when it comes to PlayStation hardware, so fingers crossed the team continues to tinker with The Last of Us Remastered for a while yet.
