Ant Easter egg has been hiding in The Last of Us' prologue all this time

Sure sounds like a bug to me.

Years after launch, people are still discovering Easter eggs in Naughty Dog's The Last of Us.

As spotted by streamer Anthony Calabrese, you can see an ant infected with the Cordyceps fungus which ends up, er, pretty much destroying the human race in the PlayStation exclusive franchise on a TV in the Last of Us' prologue.

In order to see this Easter egg, you need to start the game from the beginning and play through the intro as normal. When you see a news report on the TV, walk downstairs until see the game save for the checkpoint. At this point, quit and load up the game again. When you're back in, you should be at the bottom of the stairs still. By going upstairs to Joel's bedroom you'll see a rather grim report showing an ant infected with the nasty fungus.

After this Easter egg was reported by IGN, Naughty Dog designer Kurt Margenau saying that he scripted this sequence and joked that it "sounded like a bug."

This isn't the only The Last of Us Easter egg to be found almost eight years after the game's release. In December of last year, a former Naughty Dog employee showed that the plane in the Beach multiplayer map was actually Victor “Sully” Sullivan’s plane, Hog Wild, from the first Uncharted title.
