The Last Guardian director unveils the website for his new studio
Director of The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, has completed his contract for Sony and is moving on with his new studio genDESIGN.
The new website is fairly sparse at the moment with a heart-wrenching image of the bones of a guardian set as the background. But it does shift through a very pretty day and night cycle, turning from CG to hand drawn, if you hang around.
The studio is "comprised of Fumito Ueda and a team of veteran developers who led the creation of 'Ico' and 'Shadow of the Colossus'."
As well as some concept art from The Last Guardian, the site scrolls down to read "And More" with a partial studio logo over some more sketches.
These could be abandoned ideas for old projects or hints of things to come. They certainly look interesting enough, with a mech on the right side of the image, and a warrior with a sword slung over his back scaling what appears to be a giant pig-man, already pierced with a couple of arrows. A second half-man-half-pig stands on the left.
Mechs and giant pig-men sound wonderful, but it's still early days for the studio, so we don't know what they have on the cards or when we can expect it.
