The Golf Club coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One in northern spring
The Golf Club is a new golf sim headed to PC and next-gen this year, boasting procedurally-generated courses, no loading times, a course creator, and extensive online functionality.
The Golf Club is due on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in northern spring, although developer HB Studios said development will not end at launch.
HB's ambition is to deliver an accessible but realistic golf experience, with no loading times or waiting around in lobbies for multiplayer matches. As well as a range of crafted courses, it will ship with a course creator for editing and sharing your own courses, and a generator to produce endless content.
As well as courses, you'll be able to craft tournaments and tours for others to participate in, and you can play against friends' ghost data in addition to drop-in multiplayer.
The game's website goes into detail on how the courses are procedurally generated, various multiplayer modes, general features and the specifics of the Pinehurst River course. The videos below show off gameplay and the course creator, and there's a gallery of screens too.
Golf fans currently don't have much competition to look forward to, as EA is being very quiet on its next-gen golf game, which won't use the Tiger Woods name. That said, we're expecting a Tiger Woods-branded rival to pop up.
HB Studios has a history of sports games, notably working on Wii and Vita ports of EA Sports titles like FIFA and Madden as well as developing NBA Baller Beats, a much more interesting game than you probably give it credit for.
Thanks, Polygon.
