The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth's next DLC will include mod tools
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth will finally open to creative types.
The new "mini-DLC" is tentatively titled Afterbirth †, which is a little confusing given the recent release of the Afterbirth expansion, on top of the Rebirth subtitle of the polished re-release.
According to a post on the game's blog, Afterbirth † is expected sometime next year and will introduce a couple of new bosses, a few transformations and new items and trinkets, as well as other in-game content that hasn't been revealed as yet.
Beyond in-game content, there'll be a new Bestiary with information on all the baddies you've met so far, and a series of tools allowing modders access without fiddling with the EXE file.
The tools will grant access to the game API and include a more user-friendly Room Editor, Animation Editor and Lua support, as well as the ability to edit the item pools. The LUA support bit is really interesting as it will allow players to build new modes or even entirely new games.
