The Banner Saga 3 released date moved forward to summer 2018
The Banner Saga 3 will release earlier than anticipated.
Today, developer Stoic Games and publisher Versus Evil announced The Banner Saga 3 would be released this summer.
The third and final installment in the series, The Banner Saga 3 was funded through Kickstarter in early 2017. Stoic asked for $200,000 to fund the title, and by the end of the campaign $417,000 had been raised.
Originally, it wasn't expected to arrive before winter 2018.
A vignette trailer which highlights one of the characters in the game is below, but if you haven't played the first two entries, be warned it may contain spoilers.
It's the first in a series of character videos and focuses on Varl loyalist Fasolt.
In the The Banner Saga trilogy, player progress and the resulting storyline carry over into each game with decisions made affecting each entry.
The Banner Saga was released in 2014 followed by in 2016. A separate multiplayer game, The Banner Saga: Factions, was released in 2013.
At present, The Banner Saga 3 has only been announced for PC and Mac, but the developers have expressed interest in other platforms. Considering the previous two were released on consoles and mobile, we can probably expect additional options to be announced at a later date.
