The Banner Saga 2 has been pushed into Q1 2016
The Banner Saga 2's release has been moved to Q1 2016, according to its publisher.
Speaking with Eurogamer, Verus Evil didn't provide a reason for the delay, nor would it confirm if the sequel would release simultaneously on all platforms.
The sequel is in development for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, but Versus Evil wouldn't confirm whether the sequel will launch simultaneously on all three platforms.
Versus Evil said the console ports of the first Banner Saga are still on track for the release.
"We are currently wrapping up development for the first game now," said the company in a statement. "The delays on the console is mainly game development fun, but also the team has spent time working on console specific controls to make it perform as a console game, more than just a port."
Banner Saga 2’s development is also "progressing nicely," and more information on the launch date will be provided "when the time is right." The firm was also quick to note the board game being developed by MegaCon has "in no way affected our development on porting Banner Saga to consoles nor has it caused any delays Banner Saga 2."
Stoic Studio announced The Banner Saga 2 during The Game Awards 2014 last December, with a 2015 release date.
The Horseborn will be a playable race in the game and the sequel takes up where players left off in the first outing. It's said decisions made in The Banner Saga will feel as through they mattered in The Banner Saga 2.
A third entry is also expected later on down the line.
The Banner Saga 1 was released in 2014 and if you have yet to play it, for the next two hours it is on sale through Steam for $5 - or your region equivalent. It's all part of the mid-week madness sale.
