The 5 things you need to know about The Division Last Stand DLC
The most important news from yesterday's The Division Last Stand stream.
The Division developer Ubisoft Massive hosted a livestream last night to talk about Last Stand, the game's upcoming DLC drop, as well as what's coming with patch 1.6.
The show covered a number of additions, such as the 8v8 objective-based PvP mode, Last Stand-unique rank and progression, how matchmaking is going to work, and more. In the video, Alex lists the top five things players of the game need to know about Last Stand.
5: Dark Zone extension
The game's PvP-enabled Dark Zone will be expanded to include three more zones: DZR 7, 8, and 9. These are located north of the currently available Dark Zone, around Central Park, but not in it.
The new zones will be connected to the existing ones, but more importantly, you'll be able to travel to other zones from within the checkpoint for each one. The new zones offer different areas for the action to take place in. This means we'll be seeing more indoors locations.
All three new zones will be available for free as part of patch 1.6.
4: the dedicated Last Stand PvP mode
The new 8v8 mode, which was teased in the initial trailer, takes place within the Dark Zone, but is separate from everything else. There are four different maps the matchmaking will rotate between, each made up of Dark Zone areas.
You'll need to be level 30 to queue up for it, and each session takes around 20 minutes to complete. The main objective is to capture and defend control points on the map, which grant you points.
Within these zones, you'll also get to fight NPCs, which net you a currency you can use to fortify your captured zones. Unlike the regular Dark Zone, dying doesn't incur the same penalties, such as losing your loot and so on.
3: the Last Stand rewards
Like Underground, Last Stand comes with its own progression system that goes up to rank 40. You can only climb up these ranks by playing the mode. Rewards can vary, but some are cosmetic items not obtainable in any other way.
2: gear normalisation
Similar to Destiny's main PvP mode, the game will now put everyone on a level playing field by balancing out everyone's gear when playing Last Stand. The overall gear score will also not increase with the expansion.
1: there's PvE content
First of all, a new incursion will be added with the DLC. Other PvE content is also coming, and Massive will talk about it later today.
