Tekken has the deepest lore, including an explanation for why a robot has jiggling breasts

Fighting game lore is incredible.

For my money, it's one of the best things about fighting games in general - stupidly deep lore that tries to explain every ludicrous detail. The lore doesn't need to be this way, obviously. People punch each other. They want to find out who's strongest in the world. Whatever, that's enough - but most fighters go deeper.

As a kid, I would pour over instruction manuals to learn about characters. Convoluted backstories, blood types. Dates of birth that have long since been retconned. The tale of a guy who seriously has the name 'Fame Douglas'. I'd rewatch amazing and terrible CG intros and story endings over and over. One of my favourite dumb bits of fighting game lore is the amazing and very 90s cross section of M. Bison's Shadaloo lair from Street Fighter 2.

This brings us on to Alisa. This morning, a new piece of ridiculous fighting game lore made its way onto twitter: an explanation for why Tekken's Alisa, a robot, has breasts that jiggle. "Isn't her torso plastic?" a twitter user asked amidst feedback on the latest patch for the excellent Tekken 7.

Katsuhiro Harada, the boss of all things Tekken, answered the curious fan within half an hour. Apart from the odd tease about reviving Xenosaga here and there (Yes please, if you're reading), Harada lives and breathes Tekken.

"Her skeleton by Tungsten carbide & the outer skin armor consists of titanium & depleted uranium. But its surroundings are Artificial skin," he explained. "They serve as shock absorbers."

Well, there you have it. The robot lady has human-like, jiggling boobs because they function as shock absorbers. Lore! Earnestly-explained lore. It's better than a character being barely dressed because she's breathing through her skin, to be honest. Ahem.

Tekken 7 is out now, it's pretty good, and is full of things far more ridiculous than this, especially in its story mode.
