Team Sonic Racing: How to Boost at the Start of a Race
Just like in other kart racers, you can get a starting boost in Team Sonic Racing. Here’s how.
In Team Sonic Racing, you can get an immediate head start in a race if you’re careful. You’ll want to do so as well, as you’ll get first dibs on any items, and you can start laying a slipstream for your team to boost off of. Nailing the timing for the starting boost in Team Sonic Racing can be tricky, especially if you’ve yet to receive the small hint telling you how to do so. In this Team Sonic Racing Starting Boost Guide, we’ll be taking a look at how to get a boost at the start of a race. We’ll also take a look at all of the reasons why you’d want to do so, and how to tell if you got it right.
Team Sonic Racing Starting Boost
To get the starting boost in Team Sonic Racing, you’ll need to have near-perfect timing. It’s definitely easier than in other kart racers though, as you can use the countdown for a very easy hint. Here’s how:
- Once you load into a race, get ready to hit the right trigger.
- The first count is the hardest, but also has the longest window to hit.
- Press RT/R2 on the 3 count.
- Now, you need to take your finger off the trigger.
- Press it again for the 2 count, and then one.
- Keep the trigger held after you hit one, and you’ll get the maximum boost.
How to Know if You Got the Starting Boost in Team Sonic Racing
As you can see from the previous description, you’ll need to hit three separate counts to trigger the starting boost. Each time you hit one, you’ll see a small burst of flame from the back of the kart, and the controller will vibrate. Once the race starts, you’ll be boosted ahead of the pack, so keep an eye out for the cues.
Here’s Why You Should Always Go For the Starting Boost
Aside from the obvious speed boost that you’ll get for hitting the starting boost, there are also some other advantages to consider. Being ahead of the pack allows you to start laying down a slipstream, essentially allowing your team to get ahead sooner. You’ll also hit items faster, and can share them back to your team to help them break away.
