Team Fortress 2 tries something new with the Hatless Update

Team Fortress 2 would like to prove that it is "no one-trick pony", by releasing an update for the game that has absolutely nothing to do with hats. Valve has instead introduced a number of new miscellaneous features into the game with what they're calling the "Hatless Update".

"They said it couldn't be done," says Valve, who are out to prove "them" wrong, showing that the Team Fortress 2 pony "easily knows" seven, possibly even eight tricks.

The Hatless Update adds a virtual coach, who will give you gameplay tips while you play. Training doesn't stop there either, with Pyro, Spy and Demoman classes all receiving new training levels just like the Soldier's had for a while.

In-game voting has now been tweaked to help solve in-game issues, while AI bots, voice chat and the game's paint features have all been updated too.

Bucking the trend in gaming where everything has to be bigger and better, Valve have also thrown in a new, smaller version of classic TF2 map Badlands, designed for King of the Hill play.
