Team Fortress 2 Halloween event includes zombies

Valve has detailed its annual Scream Fortress event, with this year's festivities proving even more elaborate than usual.

The full details, including suitably silly backstory as teased earlier in the week, are availble on the free-to-play shooter's blog, but in short, Soldier somehow managed to p**s off Merasmus, again, but this time, inside the haunted castle inhabited by the spectral magician, at precisely midnight, on Halloween. Hooray!

The result is a special King of the Hill match against the undead wizard, who has a number of special tricks at his disposal. Although he's not much of a spell caster, his grimoire Bombinomicon sure is, and he's got control of the Wheel of Fate; every time the control point changes hands, something - probably unpleasant - will happen.

During Scream Fortress, magic potions will appear as random drops. These unique items can be applied to your existing gear to add special effects like new colours.

A new Mann versus Machine mode has been added, too, featuring more than 800 zombies. 800 isn't a very good number though, so it's called Wave 666. Finally, there are two new achievements to collect during the event.
