Taylor: Age of Empires Online transition "a true pleasure"
Gas Powered Games' Chris Taylor has commented on his studio's take over of Age of Empires Online development, reiterating the message that the transition was amicable.
Speaking to Big Download, Taylor said the team's involvement with Age of Empires grew out of strong ties with Microsoft.
"We had a great relationship, and we've sustained that with them over the years," he said.
"I think when they went searching for a developer to work on the franchise, we were on the list... and of course being local, it was an easy conversation to start up."
Although Gas Powered Games has now shouldered full responsibility for the new game, it was first brought on to provide additional content, unaware of what the future held.
"At first we were approached to make content, and we didn't get too deep into the agreement between Microsoft and Robot, nor should we have," Taylor said.
"As the relationship evolved, this was talked about, and we embraced the opportunity to be the lead developer."
Taylor commented that working with both Microsoft and previous developers Robot had been a "true pleasure".
