Tales of Xillia 2 features an alternate world
Tales of Xillia 2 includes an interesting new mechanic; protagonist Ludger can travel to an alternate history world, taking on a new form.
The mechanic was outed in a Famitsu preview this week, as passed on by Andriasang from Japanese sources.
Ludger's ability brings him to the attention of Bizlee, head of the powerful Klanspia Company, who commissions him to destroy the other world. Ludger can't leave the alternate universe until he has destroyed the Time Factor which is at its core.
In battle, this translates to a special ability. Once a gauge has been filled, Ludger can step into the other world, and take his enemies with him, there to smack them down in his spiky form; you can just make it out to the right of the game's logo in the image above.
Tales of Xillia 2 will release on PlayStation 3 in Japan in November. The original Tales of Xillia has been confirmed for western release during 2013.
