Switch is the fastest-selling console in Spain's history, has already surpassed Xbox One in sales
Switch is not only the fasted and best-selling Nintendo console Spain, according to a new report, it has also surpassed Xbox One unit sales.
A report out of Spain states Nintendo Switch has sold over 300,000 units in the country since it released in March 2017.
According to numbers provided to Gamereactor Spain, by the end of 2017, Xbox One unit sales since its 2013 release were just below the 10 month sales figure for Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo Spain hasn't confirmed the numbers, but did say after the Christmas shopping season ended, Nintendo Switch became the fastest-selling Nintendo system in Spain. Wii was the previous record holder for Nintendo in Spain.
As Gamereactor notes, Spain leans Nintendo which makes it a rather "tricky" market for Microsoft compared to the UK and US.
This is also the case with Italy where Switch is the fast-selling console in history, and the same can be said for France. As of December 2017, Switch became the best-selling Nintendo console in France with 911,000 units sold. During its 10 months of availability, Switch was close to overtaking Xbox One, which had sold 1.26 million units in France since its 2013 release.
In December, Nintendo reported Switch had sold 10 million units worldwide within nine months of release.
Just ahead of the December 2017 NPD report, Nintendo announced Switch was the top selling console for the month with 1.5 million units sold in the US.
According to Nintendo, as of December 2017 Switch sold over 4.8 million units in the region making it “the fastest-selling home console in US history.”
