Watch the reveal trailer for Superhot's new rogue-like expansion, Mind Control Delete
Slo-mo shooter Superhot is getting a standalone rogue-like expansion - Mind Control Delete - and it’ll be free for all current owners.
There’s no firm release date yet, but Early Access starts on December 7, 2017, with the finished product expected to drop in at least “9-12 months”.
From the trailer, Mind Control Delete looks like it’s split into levels like the base game, but with more permanent progression. Health carries over between levels in a new hitpoint system with the option to expand your pool, buy power-ups or heal yourself during changeovers.
“The game will force you through dozens of increasingly difficult time-moves-only-when-you-move gameplay challenges,” said the Superhot team.
“Each challenge will make you more powerful and bring you closer to deciphering the secrets hidden from you by the system. As you unlock powerful abilities and gain access to new playable characters, so will your enemies grow stronger, smarter and more desperate to stop you.”
The current Early Access build features two playable characters, both of which have their own ability and gameplay modifiers, as well as new animations, AI systems, and Superhot’s first foray into procedural generation.
“Beware though - this is an extremely early, bleeding-edge version of most of those systems,” the Superhot team stated.
“The limitations for this Early Access build are not for the faint of heart.”
When it launches in Early Access, Mind Control Delete will have no story - as not to “spoil too much too quickly” - and no advanced power-ups or new enemy types, so the developers can test how the vanilla game is balanced.
Players will be updated on the game’s progress “every few weeks” via livestream, with the first major content drop planned for January.
