King K. Rool debuts in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. He looks to be a pretty heavy character, though early reports seem promising in terms of his viability in-game. We’ve collected everything you need to know below.

King K. Rool is a brand new heavy character that players can use in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. He's a pretty traditional heavy, all gimmicks and weird moves. He is extremely powerful though, and has some advantages that other heavy fighters do not share. We've listed our Super Smash Bros Ultimate King K. Rool Tips below:
- You'll want to play King K. Rool defensively.
- Down B will defelct moves and deal knockback, practise with the timing of this.
- Dash attack is really eefective for catching characters off guard.
- The Blunderbuss can be used to drop down platforms.
- Down Smash is a very good way to spike opponents.
- Crown throw travels through shields.
- Down Grab will ground opponents, chain into down smash for high kill potential.

How to Unlock King K. Rool in Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Unlike previous Smash games, fighters are unlocked in the same way for all, rather than character-specific challenges. This means that while it can be a bit of a grind, all you need to do is play the game naturally and you’ll eventually unlock all of the characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. We’ve listed the three ways you can unlock characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate below:
- Playing the World of Light single-player mode.
- Completing Classic Mode with a character.
- Playing the ‘Challenger Approaches’ fights that appear regularly, you will need to win them.
The fastest method involves triggering the Challenger Fights by reloading the game regularly. We’ve listed the method below:
- Quit to the home screen and Restart the game.
- Create a match with a custom rule set.
- Make sure the match is 1 minute long, or 1 stock if you'd prefer.
- After finishing the match (you can win or lose) you will offered a new Challenger Fight.
- You'll need to win the Challenger fight
- Repeat.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate King K. Rool amiibo
It looks like every single fighter in Smash Ultimate will be getting an amiibo. This includes King K. Rool, though we haven’t seen what it looks like just yet. We do have a Tweet confirming it though, which you can view below.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate King K. Rool Alternate Costumes
Players will be able to choose from a variety of Alternate Costumes when playing as King K. Rool. They are simple color swaps in orange, blue, yellow, pink, black, brown and white. You can check out the pink and blue versions in the image below:
Super Smash Bros Ultimate King K. Rool Final Smash
King K. Rool comes packed with one hell of a Final Smash. It’s called Blast-O-Matic, and sees him firing a giant laser from his secret lair. You can check it out in the video embedded above.
