Bayonetta is back for Smash Bros Ultimate. She’s still a flashy fighter, but has gone through a number of changes since her last appearance. And to celebrate the fact that there are 74 playable characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, we’re building character guides for all of them. In this Super Smash Bros Ultimate Bayonetta Guide, we’ll be highlighting all of the changes that have been made since SSB4. We’ll also take a look at her Final Smash and the Alternate Costumes that can be chosen at the character select screen.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Bayonetta Guide
Bayonetta is back for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, having last appeared in SSB4 for Wii U and 3DS. As with the majority of the returning fighters, there have been some changes to the way she plays, from animation tweaks to new moves. We’ve listed all of the key info below:
Bayonetta Smash Bros. Ultimate Moves Set and Final Smash
One of the typically “overpowered” fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is Bayonetta. In the table below, you can find a complete list of all the moves that this fighter can use.

How to Unlock Bayonetta in Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Unlike previous Smash games, fighters are unlocked in the same way for all, rather than character-specific challenges. This means that while it can be a bit of a grind, all you need to do is play the game naturally and you’ll eventually unlock all of the characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. We’ve listed the three ways you can unlock characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate below:
- Playing the World of Light single-player mode.
- Completing Classic Mode with a character.
- Playing the ‘Challenger Approaches’ fights that appear regularly, you will need to win them.
The fastest method involves triggering the Challenger Fights by reloading the game regularly. We’ve listed the method below:
- Quit to the home screen and Restart the game.
- Create a match with a custom rule set.
- Make sure the match is 1 minute long, or 1 stock if you'd prefer.
- After finishing the match (you can win or lose) you will offered a new Challenger Fight.
- You'll need to win the Challenger fight
- Repeat.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Bayonetta Changes
There have been several changes to Bayonetta since her last appearance. We’ve listed the ones we’ve noticed below:
- Several animations have been altered including jumpsquat, taunts, Grabs, and dash.
- Dash is faster.
- Bayonetta is lighter.
- New sound effects have been added.
- Climax Gauge fills faster.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate Bayonetta Alternate Costumes
Bayonetta has some pretty awesome Alternate Costumes this time around. There are variants of her default design in orange, red/white hair. There is also the model used for Bayonetta 1, in black, green, orange and blue.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate Bayonetta Final Smash
Bayonetta uses the same Final Smash as in SSB4. It’s Infernal Climax and sees Bayonetta summons the demon Gamorrah. It’s an awesome move, which you can see in the video embedded above.
