Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Palutena Guide
Great news Kid Icarus fans, Palutena returns for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. There have been some changes since their last appearance, which was Super Smash Bros 4 for Wii U and 3DS. We’ve pulled together all of the info you need to know about Palutena in the following guide.
Palutena Smash Bros. Ultimate Moves Set and Final Smash
One of the elemental fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Palutena has a variety of moves. In the list below, you can find a complete list of moves that Palutena can pull off.

How to Unlock Palutena in Super Smash Bros Ultimate
Unlike previous Smash games, fighters are unlocked in the same way for all, rather than character-specific challenges. This means that while it can be a bit of a grind, all you need to do is play the game naturally and you’ll eventually unlock all of the characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. We’ve listed the three ways you can unlock characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate below:
- Playing the World of Light single-player mode.
- Completing Classic Mode with a character.
- Playing the ‘Challenger Approaches’ fights that appear regularly, you will need to win them.
The fastest method involves triggering the Challenger Fights by reloading the game regularly. We’ve listed the method below:
- Quit to the home screen and Restart the game.
- Create a match with a custom rule set.
- Make sure the match is 1 minute long, or 1 stock if you'd prefer.
- After finishing the match (you can win or lose) you will offered a new Challenger Fight.
- You'll need to win the Challenger fight
- Repeat.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Palutena Changes
Palutena has been tweaked slightly for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Not only have several animations been altered, there have been changes to movesets as well. We’ve listed all of the Palutena changes that we’ve noticed below:
Super Smash Bros Ultimate Palutena Alternate Costumes
Players can select from a variety of Alternate Costumes for Palutena. They are pretty cool, offering different color variants of the default design. There are pink, purple, green, blue, red, black and brown versions to choose from. You can check out the purple Alternate Costume in the image embedded above.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate Palutena Final Smash
Palutena’s Final Smash is once again Black Hole Laser for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. It is the same move as before, though some of the visuals have been altered slightly. You can check out Black Hole Laser in the video embedded above.
